Phil Blackburn

Phil taught science in Bedfordshire before joining the regional ICT team based in Hatfield. He then became part of the management team for NERIS (National Education Resources Information Service) before moving to Durham in 1991 as Director of the Microtechnology Centre. In the ensuing period he has managed:

  • A multipurpose centre bringing together technology, science and ICT
  • Delivery of NGfL project to 300 schools
  • The IT Service’s pathway to ISO 9001 accreditation
  • The development and delivery of a VLE for 70,000 users
  • Development of E-Safeguarding Support for 300 schools
  • A publications unit that produced Journeys into History, Cromwell the Fire Fighter, The Adventures of Barnaby Bear and Milly's Mouse Skills

Phil is also an:

  • ICTMark Assessor
  • CEOP Ambassador
  • A Fellow of Naace (The IT Association)
  • A 360 Degree Safe Consultant
  • An Online Safety Mark Assessor
